چکیده
We develop a regularization operator based on smoothing on a locally defined length scale. This operator is defined on L and has approximation properties that are given by the local regularity of the function it is applied to and the local length scale. Additionally, the regularized function satisfies inverse estimates commensurate with the approximation orders. By combining this operator with a classical hp-interpolation operator, we obtain an hp-Clément type quasiinterpolation operator, i.e., an operator that requires minimal smoothness of the function to be approximated but has the expected approximation properties in terms of the local mesh size and polynomial degree. As a second application, we consider residual error estimates in hp-boundary element methods that are explicit in the local mesh size and the local approximation order.

Mini - symposium A 14 High - Order Methods and Their Applications
We design adaptive high-order Galerkin methods for the solution of linear elliptic problems and study their performance. We start by considering adaptive Fourier-Galerkin methods and Legendre spectralelement methods, which offer unlimited approximation power only restricted by solution and data regularity. We next turn our attention to the $hp$-version of the finite element method, for which we...
متن کاملInterpolation and quasi - interpolation in h - and hp - version nite element spaces ( extended version )
Interpolation operators map a function u to an element Iu of a finite element space. Unlike more general approximation operators, interpolants are defined locally. Estimates of the interpolation error, i.e., the difference u− Iu, are of utmost importance in numerical analysis. These estimates depend on the size of the finite elements, the polynomial degree employed, and the regularity of u. In ...
متن کاملValidity and Reliability of the Persian Version of JSPE-HP Questionnaire (Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy-Health Professionals Version)
Background & Aims: Empathy plays an important role in patient’s relationship with his/her dentist or doctor. One of the most used tools for evaluation of empathy is the Jefferson Scale of Physician EmpathyHealth Professionals Version (JSPE-HP). The aim of this study was to validate the JSPE-HP for use among Iranian population. Methods: The English original version of the JSPE-HP questionnaire w...
متن کاملNordsieck representation of high order predictor-corrector Obreshkov methods and their implementation
Predictor-corrector (PC) methods for the numerical solution of stiff ODEs can be extended to include the second derivative of the solution. In this paper, we consider second derivative PC methods with the three-step second derivative Adams-Bashforth as predictor and two-step second derivative Adams-Moulton as corrector which both methods have order six. Implementation of the proposed PC method ...
متن کاملhp-Version Composite Discontinuous Galerkin Methods for Elliptic Problems on Complicated Domains
In this paper we introduce the hp–version discontinuous Galerkin composite finite element method for the discretization of second–order elliptic partial differential equations. This class of methods allows for the approximation of problems posed on computational domains which may contain a huge number of local geometrical features, or micro-structures. While standard numerical methods can be de...
